Conocidos como Blink (nombre que debieron cambiar para evitar problemas legales con un grupo musical irlandés), es una banda pop punk del sur de California formada en 1992 por Tom DeLonge (guitarra y voz), Mark Hoppus (bajo y voz) y Scott Raynor (batería), el cual fue sustituído debido a un problema de alcoholismo por el conocido Travis Barker. El nombre de la banda originalmente no lleva mayúsculas (blink-182) y el número 182, según Tom, no sabe bien de donde lo tomaron aun que alguna vez dijeron que era el numero de veces que se decia ‘’FUCK’’ en Scarface, aunque también se dice que lo tomaron de una película llamada ‘’Turk 182’‘

En el año 1993 graban su primer casette llamado «Flyswater» seguido por otro casette conocido como «Buddha». Después graban su primer cd, «Cheshire Cat». Después de este cd consiguen popularidad, volviendose conocidos, sobre todo en Estados Unidos, pero al lanzar su próximo cd, «Dude Ranch», logran esto en un nivel mayor, llegando a toda Norteamérica y Europa.

En la gira de este ultimo cd, Raynor se retira de la banda (no hay una razón oficial, aunque se dice que fue por problemas de alcoholismo), para suplirle en la gira se lo piden a Travis Barker, batería de The-Aquabats (quienes estaban de gira con blink), este, tras aprenderse las canciones en 45 minutos actúa con ellos y pasa a ser parte de blink-182 como batería oficial de la banda.

En 1999 publican su primer cd juntos «Enema of the State», con el cual consiguen hacerse famosos en el resto del mundo. Este cd fue seguido por su primera y última producción en vivo, «The Mark, Tom And Travis Show» en el 2000. Al año siguiente sacan otro disco al mercado llamado «Take Off Your Pants And Jacket».

Después de esto, la banda decide tomar un descanso, tiempo que aprovecha Tom junto a Travis para formar una banda alterna , «Box Car Racer», con un sonido más alternativo, mientras Mark tuvo apariciones musicales con otras bandas.

Tras casi 5 años de desaparecer en escena, blink-182 anuncia su regreso en la entrega 51 de los premios Grammy.

Mi banda favorita en la adolescencia y que ahora me sigue encantando... no pueden imaginar la felicidad que me ha causado ver que tienen nuevo album y nuevo sencillo "Up all night" son unos cracks.

Blink 182 también ha sido una de mis bandas favoritas desde hace anos, me ha encantado que hayan decidido crear un nuevo álbum, ya heescuchado varias de sus canciones y parece que nunca se han separado! Me encantan.

Ellos en 2005 anunciaron su separación... lo recuerdo porque fue para mí varios días de despecho. Cuando he oído que tienen nuevo album casi he llorado de la emoción. Y ahora recordando sus mejores temas.
El cd de ellos de cheshire cat lo tenía yo en cassete. Cómo a los 8 añitos que no podía despegarme del canal de música para escuchar carousel o m+m's mi madre cedió y me lo regaló
Carousel fue de mis favoritas de ese "cassette" y era mi himno al levantarme y vestirme para la escuela

I miss you es de mis favoritas, tom delonge está magnífico, sin desafinar

Always, de ese album es la mejor, y el video engancha mucho. Y the first date creo que fue la que más pegó de ese album "take off your pants and jacket", es buena pero no mi preferida... eso sí el video es toda una pasada.

De ese disco , que a mi parecer es el mejor de blink, son muchas mis canciones favoritas:
Athem Part 2... el inicio es fantásstico con la guitarra y la batería... buahh sin desperdicio.

Voy a ir al concierto de Blink 182 en Hershey PA este mes. Uno de mis grandes sueños de adolescente que hace años había dado por perdido (ruptura, accidente y trauma de Travis Baker, cancer de Mark Hoppus y locura y abducción de Tom Delonge).
